Emergency Water Barrels For Your Home

Having drinking water in an emergency is critical for survival! We have secured a dozen 55-gallon BPA-free, food-grade storage barrels which can be easily filled at the top and drained at the bottom with an optional spigot (highly recommended) which attaches to a standard garden hose.

CORE II (2) Training – Oakland’s Emergency Response Network

mq1

We just got confirmation from Downs Church that we can use the Fellowship Hall for the Core II training on Thursday evening, October 23rd, from 6 to 8:30 PM.  The address of Downs Memorial Church is 6026 Idaho Street.  It’s between 60th and 61st Street – enter from the parking lot on 60th Street.

The Core I training (how to prepare your household for a disaster) was well attended, interesting, and informative.  In the Core II training we will learn how to respond as a community in the event of a disaster.

If you have not yet taken Core I you can still take Core II and get credit for it.  You can make up the Core I course later.  Both Core I and Core II are required, however, to enroll in a Core III training.  (Core III is practical, hands on training.)

Please let us know if you can come, so we’ll know how to set up.  As with the Core I training, please eat dinner before you come, because there will only be tea served that night

CORE I Training – Oakland’s Emergency Response Network

mq1CORE is a free training program for individuals, neighborhood groups and community-based organizations in Oakland. The underlying premise is that a major disaster will overwhelm first responders leaving many citizens on their own for the first seven to 10 days after the emergency.

CORE teaches self-reliance skills and helps neighborhoods establish response teams to take care of the neighborhood until professional emergency personnel arrive.

View our CORE page in the RESOURCES area of this website.

CORE I TRAINING WILL TAKE PLACE ON 02-OCTOBER AT DOWNS MEMORIAL CHURCH AT IDAHO STREET & 61ST STREET. RSVP ON NEXT DOOR.

CORE II TRAINING IS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR 23-OCTOBER.
